Captain Obvious research shows elderly at risk of contagion in hospital emergency rooms

Dr.Caroline Quach, of the Montreal Childrens’ Hospital (MCH) is probably a fine person, I just want to put that out there in an effort to show, that I have nothing against her even though from what I gather she does not have any patients per say, which is ironic given that in Quebec to quickly find a medical doctor one has to either, 1-have lots of money, 2-be of some importance like a politician, professional hockey player or a rockstar (but apparently being a British actress is not enough), or 3-having an MD for a relative. Unrelated Quebecers do pay, over half their salary in sales, income and other various taxes but I digress.

Having said that though, in 2005, her team at the MCH set out to make a study showing whether children were at risk of contracting contagious diseases in their ER, the study concluded then, that they are not at any more risk than at any other of the normal children’s microbial breeding grounds including day-cares, schools and kids parties.

That was one for Captain Obvious. Now Dr.Quach herself set out to see if elders are more at risk of getting “catchy” diseases in hospitals ER and predictably, they are. -Insert dramatic Clarksonian pause here – That makes it 2-0 for Captain Obvious.

Sadly though, I couldn’t find information regarding how studies like this one cost, or where the funding comes from, but I sincerely hope it’s not from taxpayer’s money. In her future plans, could be studies to show that children could cry, when pronged with an electric pain stick, that water is wet and that the Habs are likely not to make the playoffs this year.
