And Your Little Dog Too: Cuba Poison’s U.S. Diplomats’ Pets

totoAs the chill in U.S. – Cuba relations begins to thaw, reports reveal a number of dirty tricks used in a campaign against U.S. diplomats by Cuba. It is claimed that the pets of U.S. diplomats were poisoned in an attempt to cause “dissension” among the ranks.
Some might argue that the pet poisoning incidents pale in comparison to actions taken against Cuba by the U.S.. In the height of the cold war, then President Fidel Castro was the target of so many assassination attempts that he once remarked, “If surviving assassination attempts were an Olympic event, I would win the gold medal.”

President Obama is set to meet with Latin American leaders later this week and expected to announce an easing of sanctions against the socialist country. [Newser]
