Titanic Stars Dig Deep For Last Survivor

Millvina Dean, titanic, survivorStars of James Cameron’s Titanic Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet and director James Cameron have set up a fund to secure the future of the last survivor of the sunken ocean liner. Millvina Dean was just two-months-old when the Titanic sank on April 14, 1912.

Dean had been struggling to support the cost of her nursing home accommodation after she broke her hip three years ago and in October of this year she sold several of her Titanic mementos in a bid to raise cash.

Upon learning of her plight, DiCaprio and Winslet established The Millvina Fund. In a joint statement the pair said:

We are honoured to contribute to the Millvina Fund. Our hope is that others will feel inspired by Millvina Dean’s remarkable story of survival and hope she can rest easier in knowing that her future will become more secure through this fund.

DiCaprio, Winslet and Cameron each donated $10,000 to the fund.
