Everyone’s a critic–even the Raleigh, North Carolina police department.

Just ask college student Joseph Carnevale, after being charged with larceny and destruction of property, due to his roadside monster thumbing a ride, street art he made from chopped up orange and white traffic barrels.

The cops obviously don’t have an eye for art, and after dismantling the creation, arrested Carnevale.

Hundreds of online supporters have taken up Carnevale’s cause, including a Facebook group called “Don’t Charge Joseph Carnevale,” that numbers around 800 members.  Even the construction company, Hamlin Associates, is impressed with Carnevale’s work.  They’ve asked the budding artist to recreate the roadside creature for their head office in Climax, North Carolina.  Carnevale is weighing the offer.

Carnevale isn’t sure what he plans on doing next, although he has hinted at a T-Rex sculpture made out of barrels. [MSNBC]
