A young father is accused of indecent exposure may face up to a year in jail for being nude in his Virginia home.
Twenty-nine-year-old Eric Williamson of Virginia was making coffee sans clothes in his kitchen at 5:30a.m. when a woman walking with her seven-year-old son walked past his home. She called the police, claiming that Williamson had moved and exposed himself through his large front window.
Williamson proclaims his innocence, saying that he was unaware that anyone had walked past his home and that any exposure of his genitalia was unintentional.
According to Williamson:
I never had a conversation with anyone, never saw anyone. Didn’t cross my mind, came and got coffee. I mean if I stood and seemed comfortable in my kitchen possibly it’s natural. It’s my kitchen.
He added:
I am a loving dad. Any of my friends … and anyone knows that. And there is not a chance on this planet that I would ever, ever do anything like that to a kid.
To prove indecent exposure, prosecutors must show that Williamson willfully exposed his private parts; accidental exposure is not a crime. Police believe that he was seeking a public audience for his nakedness.
