In what should not really come as a surprise, Kimberley Vlaeminck, the Belgian girl who claimed that she received 56 star tattoos on her face while she slept has admitted to lying; she asked for each and every one of them.

In her own words, Vlaeminck “initially adored” the tattoos, but it was her father’s furious reaction that prompted her to lie and to say that she had only asked for three stars.

She had said that she intended to sue tattooist Rouslan Toumaniantz for the cost of laser removal.

Speaking to Dutch TV, Vlaeminck said:

I asked for 56 stars and initially adored them. But when my father saw them, he was furious. So I said I fell asleep and that the tattooist had made a mistake.

Though Toumaniantz maintained that Vlaeminck had asked for the 56 stars, he offered to pay for half of the laser treatment for the removal of the tattoos, stating:

Kimberley is unhappy and it is not my wish to have an unsatisfied client.

Upon learning of Kimberley’s admission, Toumaniantz withdrew his offer, but he has emerged from the situation a little wiser; he now insists that clients sign a written consent form.

When asked whether he has any regrets over the incident, Toumaniantz replied:

I don’t regret it. To tell you the truth, this has given me some publicity.
