Six drown in giant vat of tomato sauce

Six workers at a factory in India died after drowning in a giant vat of tomato sauce.

The Indian Express reported that a female worker slipped and fell into the 6m deep tank vat. Five colleagues jumped into help and all six were killed by the fumes given off by the fermenting sauce. Another two workers were hospitalized following the incident.

The owner of the Akansha Food Products factory in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has since been taken into custody.
