Man calls 911 for ride to liquor store, gets arrested for possession of pot

A St. Augustine, Florida man was arrested for misuse of 911 and possession of marijuana after he failed to heed warnings not to call emergency services to ask for a lift to the liquor store.

The St. Augustine Police Department allege George McMurrian, 57, called 911 twice Saturday to ask for ride to the liquor store from his room at the Budget Inn. After placing the second call, police officers came to his apartment and warned him that there would be consequences if he continued to call 911 for non-emergencies. It seems he failed to get the message because a third call, in which the caller hung up,was placed from his location.

The officers who returned to arrest him for misusing 911 spotted marijuana in his room; which further compounded his legal predicament. [UPI]
