Airport security at Britain’s Heathrow airport prevented a man from boarding a jet not because he was wearing a Transformers t-shirt.
Brad Jayakody, 30, was somewhat taken aback when he was told that he would not be able to enter the plane wearing what he was wearing. When he asked to see the security chief, he was allegedly threatened with arrest.
The issue, it seems, was not with Brad’s sense of style but due to the fact that Optimus Prime was pictured holding a gun. Brad did the right thing and changed his t-shirt, but was still warned that he would be arrested if he changed back into the offending item.
Fortunately for Brad, he got his t-shirt back and got to board his flight without being arrested – but you’d think that the folks who are supposed to be keeping the terrorists off the planes could find something better to do with their time. [The Sun]

Mother of God….. I’m flying home on Sunday and now I just want to where my Ballard Rifle Co. shirt just to screw with these guys.. to say that something like this was/is “offensive” is offensive in of itself. that infringes on my rights as a citizen.

Maybe the laws are different in Britain, but if some jerk-off told me I couldn’t board an airplane because I was wearing a shirt depicting a cartoon robot holding a cartoon gun, I’d tell him to stuff it. The nail clippers, the liquids have logical (if absurd and overblown) reasons for being confiscated. Doesn’t make it right, but they are there. A t-shirt, bearing a CARTOON robot holding a CARTOON gun could not, in any way, pose a threat to anyone. It’s not the right thing to meekly say “yes sir” and change your shirt. That just makes them feel they can keep pulling this crap. What next, I can’t bring my PSP because it’s got a Call of Duty sticker on it depicting a gun?
