Wind farms could cause ecological disasters, such as, erm, well, they just could

A so-called "clean" wind turbine in the process of killing a whole family of baby seals.

The British have become pioneers of clean energy solutions, mandating that 20% of their power grid be supplied through renewable resources by 2020.  And the most prolific source of this energy is arguably the wind turbines now seen dotting the North Sea off England’s coast.  But in spite producing almost no carbon dioxide or hazardous waste to speak of, environmentalists are now targeting the turbine towers as a threat to natural ecosystems.

Their evidence is a little shabby, however, pointing to dead seals washed up on shores with no explanation as to how they actually died (because, evidently, seals normally live forever) and the birds stupid enough to fly directly into the oscillating wind turbine blades.  Aside from this, the turbines just look weird.  That has an impact on the environment too, right?

This all just goes to show that you can’t please everybody, and nothing short of harnessing the power of love to keep our fridges running will satisfy the harshest environmental critics. [Source; Image]
