Mother-in-Law’s Critical Letter of Bride-to-Be Goes Viral

Heidi Winters and her fiance - before the step mom sent the email

When her future mother-in-law sent Heidi Withers a scathing, insulting email about her uncouth and rude behavior, she didn’t see the harm in forwarding it to a few friends for advice.

And they didn’t see the harm in sending it to a few friends as well.

Now the email has gone viral, the world (at least everyone living in the present) thinks the step mom could take Snow White’s evil step mom in a battle, and everyone is embarrassed by the whole thing.

Withers, 28, and her fiancé Freddie Bourne, 29, went to visit his family in Dawlish, Devon, UK. The American born Withers probably didn’t even know she was being inappropriate until after the visit was over and she received the email from 60-year old Carolyn Bourne.

According to Mrs. Bourne, Withers rude behavior has left the family dog, Bomber, “traumatized, depressed and anxious.”

It said things like:

“You regularly draw attention to yourself. Perhaps you should ask yourself why…It is vulgar.”

“It is high time someone explained to you about good manners. Yours are obvious by their absence and I feel sorry for you.

“Your behaviour on your visit to Devon during April was staggering in its uncouthness and lack of grace.”

“If you want to be accepted by the wider Bourne family I suggest you take some guidance from experts with utmost haste. There are plenty of finishing schools around. You would be an ideal candidate for the Ladette to Lady television series. Please, for your own good, for Freddie’s sake and for your future involvement with the Bourne family, do something as soon as possible.”

Main complaints included sleeping too late, complaining about the food and about wanting to get married in a castle (because you only do that if you live in a castle and since Withers and her fiancé are paying for it she should be paying only what they can afford.)

Question here: what wedding stays within the budget of what the couple can afford?

While the viral email has probably done nothing for the healing of the relationship of the two women it has been enjoyed by thousands of people around the world. At this point, probably tens of thousands.

And if family functions weren’t tense before they’re definitely going to be now.

If I were Heidi Winters, I’d elope and have a huge reception party at the castle… with donations to charity. Have the evil step mom complain about the lack of good manners in charity then. [Telegraph]
