Solar UV fluctuations linked to variation in earth’s climate

In a “we told you so” moment, scientists have confirmed a link between warmer winters over the northern hemisphere, and stronger UV output during the more active phase within the 11 year cycle of our Sun. Also, they’ve explained why even though we were prophesied some tremendous global warming that would have killed all animals, their moms as well as The Internet’s President, all we got were slightly harsher winters during the solar minimum in the last 5 years or so.

They had already predicted this with lots of data gathering and modelling within some of their simulations. Pictured above to the left, the sun in both its solar maximum (left) and minimum (right) click the photo to view in a new tab.

Since the Sun is currently heading towards a solar maximum, we are thereby looking forwards to a couple of warmer than usual winters here in Canada. Sadly though, given my experience with climate predictions, in winter, in Canada, I’m not putting my tuque, mittens and winter coat in storage just yet.
