TSA confiscates suspicious-looking cupcake

A woman has claimed that her cupcake was confiscated by a Transport Security Administration (TSA) officer at Las Vegas airport because he deemed its frosting to be a security risk.

Rebecca Hains said that the cupcake in question was taken at McCarran International Airport on her way home. The reason that was given to her was that the frosting looked “too similar to a gel that violates TSA restrictions.

A spokesperson for the agency said that the matter is being investigated:

TSA is reviewing the circumstances of this situation. However, passengers are allowed to take cupcakes through the checkpoint.

Hains noted that a cupcake had not been an issue a few days earlier at Logan International Airport.

In all seriousness, I do not know which is more disturbing: TSA officials doing their utmost to make air travel an undignified, excruciating, heart attack-inducing experience… or Ms Hains’ seemingly excessive consumption of cupcakes.
