It turns out that there is a fairly complicated scientific explanation behind the room-spinning effect that can kick in after a few too many drinks. The video below gives you a far better explanation than your author could manage and offers a useful scientifically-based tip for minimizing the nauseating sensation: lie in bed, stare at a fixed object and, if you can, put a foot on the floor.
