yup - that's a nail deep in his head...
Dante Autullo is very lucky to be alive. While working, he accidentally shot himself with a nail gun in the head. Not feeling any pain, he thought he’d only scrapped his head and that the nail had gone right past his ear.
So he continued to work for another 12 hours, went home and went to sleep. Waking up the next morning he felt very nauseous and decided then to go to the hospital.
That’s when he found out the truth – he had a nail, almost 4 inches long, in the middle of his brain.
“When they brought in the picture, I said to the doctor, ‘Is this a joke? Did you get that out of the doctors’ joke file?”‘ the 32-year-old Illinois man told the Los Angeles Times. “The doctor said, ‘No man, that’s in your head.”‘
Since there’s no nerve endings in your brain it is very possible to shoot yourself in the head with a nail gun and not feel it.
Autullo was immediately rushed to the hospital for surgery to remove the nail. While riding in the ambulance that’s when he decided he should post it to his Facebook page. Perhaps it was foresight, knowing most of his friends wouldn’t believe this happened. Or maybe he just wanted to get the picture with the most likes at that time. Most definitely it’s for bragging rights to say, “I survived this.”
Surgery was a success and now Autullo is recovering at home. A very happy ending to what could have been a devastating story. Source. Picture. Source2.
