Strong winds cause plane to lift off [video]

Watch the video below carefully. The plane has no pilot, passengers or crew… it doesn’t even have any fuel – but none of these things stopped it from lifting off at a Mojave airport when winds topped 70 mph.

The winds passing over the wings of the Southern Air 747 were strong enough to create lift, in much the same way as would happen if the jet were taxiing down a runway. Winds of that strength would not normally be strong enough to have such an effect, but the plane in question was due to be scrapped and had its engines removed. When airport officials went to check on the plane, they found that it had moved 45 degrees.
