Authorities in Papua, New Guinea (near Australia) have arrested 29 people suspected of having slain and eaten seven witch doctors for their meat’s “supernatural” properties.
“They don’t think they’ve done anything wrong; they admit what they’ve done openly,” Wagambie told The Associated Press by telephone, he then said that they had been extorting money as well as demanding sex from some poor villagers in exchange for their imagined supernatural powers.
The 29 people are believed to be members of a cannibalistic cult that might count between 700 and 1000 people. Cannibalism, was part of traditional culture for Papua New Guinea a poor isolated island in the south pacific.
