A Chinese IT worker known only as Yuan, accidentally showed some pornography on a giant screen at Jilin Station for about 10 minutes, causing a crowd to agglomerate and risking up to two years because in China, pornography is forbidden.
Chinese media explains that the bumbling IT guy had hooked up his laptop to the giant screen in order to program it, the screen is normally used to show advertisements but once he was done, he forgot to disconnect it and began his pause by allowing himself a DVD of “The Forbidden Legend of Sex and Chopsticks” a sexy adaptation of Jin Ping Mei, a Chinese erotica classic novel.
After about 10 minutes, and with hundreds of travelers stopped dead under the giant board, Yuan’s boss called him expressing his discontent. Yuan immediately disconnected the laptop and threw the DVD out the window.
Expressly forbidden in China, pornography has a large clandestine market originating from Hong Kong but its distribution can result in up to two years in a Chinese jail. Ironically, Chinese websites like to sell naughty gadgets online, go figure…
