Chicago resident Vjollca Lecaj ordered a spicy McChicken sandwich from McDonald’s in August of 2010. What she found upon biting into the sandwich was mostly chicken and condiments, but also contained a significant quantity of broken glass.
According to her lawsuit, Lecaj “sustained severe and permanent oral injuries as well as great pain and anguish” and is seeking $600,000 in damages. McDonald’s is unwilling to comment, but it’s likely that lawyers will either settle out-of-court or attempt to prove that Lecaj planted the glass herself.
To prove this will be difficult. In 2005, a woman claimed to have found a severed finger in her chili at a Wendy’s restaurant, resulting in a similar lawsuit and negative media spotlight; however, a friend of the woman stepped forward to confess that he had sold the finger, severed in an accident, to the woman for $100. She is now spending twelve years in prison. [Source; Image]
