Illinois Lottery spokesman Mike Lang released an apology for bouncing as many as 85 checks totaling close to 160.000$, some for as low as 1000$ from scratch-off type tickets. Lang explained that a file had not been sent to the lottery bank, with the correct access codes for the checks, mostly due to the lottery offices being short staffed for the holidays. Illinois Lottery have said that they will absorb any check bouncing fees incurred by the lottery winners and they will also send out some free scratch-off lottery tickets to the lucky/unlucky winners.
Their Mega-Millions slogan, Best Odds To Win 1.000.000 is easy to say when the check bounces though, wouldn’t you say?
