16 members of a high-school baseball team have saved the life of a young girl who was visiting their school last week by lifting a four door sedan off her, KCRA-TV reports. The Valley High students, were in the middle of their final practice when they heard the girl cry for help as her mom accidentally backed her car up over her.
They quickly teamed up and lifted the car while the coach removed the girl from underneath. The coach, James Millholland reported that nobody hesitated and everyone pitched in, gathering around the car and lifting it up. The students claim it was actually quite easy to lift the vehicle.
The girl was hospitalized then released on Thursday, and is expected to have a full recovery, her name’s not been released yet.
“I felt like we were heroes,” Ysidro Castro said. “We did something that actually saved the day.”
I have to commend them, in 2013, a whole team of teenagers that witness an accident and assist, rather than take out their cell phones and shoot video for what are known as “fails” are a rather rare phenomenon, some might even say abnormal. Congratulations to them, and a prompt recovery to the girl.
