Man rides giant crocodile, alcohol involved

A tourist was lucky to survive with major lacerations to his leg after he protested his ejection from a pub in Broome, Western Australia by climbing the fence of a crocodile enclosure and attempting to ride one of the inhabitants.

Fatso, a five-meter male, did not care to be ridden and responded as crocodiles are prone to do – by biting his rider.

Broome Police Sergeant Roger Hayne told ABC radio:

For some reason he’s made a decision to climb the fence into the crocodile park, where an almost five-meter male crocodile was living.

He appears to have wanted to touch that crocodile and sit on its back, and the crocodile has taken offense to that and bitten him on the right leg.

He’s absolutely lucky to be alive, this is a large male saltwater crocodile, who aren’t renowned for letting people escape once they’ve got hold of them.

The tourist, who is believed to be from Australia’s eastern states, managed to escape from Fatso’s enclosure and go back to the pub for help. He was subsequently taken to Broome Hospital, where he underwent surgery and received “dozens of stitches.” [News]

Its the one time I wished a croc would win… Being at a croc farm, it wouldn’t have been hungry, but he was probably ‘just letting the guy know who was boss’
