Three McDonald’s restaurants are offering the “McWedding” special as a test to see if it’s popularity will warrant it being spread to other locations and possibly cities.
Not only cheap, it’s considered fun by those who like their weddings in fast-food fashion. For HK$1000 ($130) couples tie the knot with a personalized menu, McDonald’s themed gifts, a hot apple pie wedding cake, and a fry to share as the couple chomps their way up to their first matrimonial kiss.
But don’t expect privacy or much of a party after the ceremony. The restaurant doesn’t close to regular customers who are invited to watch and since McDonald’s doesn’t serve booze no alcohol is allowed.
Reps for the globally dominant fast-food chain say the idea wasn’t theirs. A couple who met at a McDonald’s in Hong Kong got married there. Word spread and after receiving thousands of requests by customers wanting to do the same the company decided they should try it out.
So now you can clog your arteries while saying goodbye to your single life and you’re kids will rejoice every time they get a Happy Meal.
