Sang Eun Lee of Richmond Hill, Ontario, ran into some trouble with the law, and despite her best efforts, hasn’t done much to save her dignity.
Lee was arrested for DUI after drunkenly leaving a bar and refusing to be driven home by cab. The cabbie called 911, and police found Lee parked in her townhome complex, albeit in the wrong driveway. She later claimed (through an interpreter) that her ‘dazed’ appearance and inability to comply with basic orders was a result of not being able to understand English, though she attended an English university for four years in the 1990s.
Lee’s lawyer attempted to have the case thrown out, citing the aforementioned language failure and also the fact that police seized her underwire bra during a routine search in order to humiliate her. As it turns out, the female officer conducting the private search expected that she’d remove the bra through her sleeves, but Lee voluntarily stripped down instead.
As a result, the presiding judge ruled that Lee still broke the law and will face both the minimum $1,000 fine and a suspended license. [Source]
