Nov 5th is just around the corner, will Anonymous manage to take out Facebook?

Some of you might remember a few months ago when Anonymous released a video (above) narrated by a Stephen Hawking imitator, which admonished Facebook by stating that on November 5th, they were going to take out the social network site.

Anonymous had said “Facebook has been selling information to government agencies and giving clandestine access to information security firms so that they can spy on people from all around the world. Some of these so-called whitehat infosec firms are working for authoritarian governments, such as those of Egypt and Syria.” But now, it’s four months later, both of those governments, as well as others like Libya,  have been overthrown by their own people, will Anonymous follow through with their threat? Or will we all be able to go bug our moms on Facebook come Saturday morning?

What would we all do if Facebook ceased to exist? I think Facebook is cool, but would we revert to phoning up our friends and seeing them in person? That would be cool too.

You know the funny thing is i believe that it would just turn us to a different social site. Myspace is still currently running, there is now google+, friendster might still be there, my yearbook etc. The country would adapt. Though all that personal info online could destroy most of the world put into cunning use. As for now, i guess we wait.
