South Houston water network hacked! Was protected with a 3 letter password

Initially I wanted to make the headline for this article South Houston water network hacked, but then I decided to dig deeper and I realized that the issue is really that the network was protected with a three letter password.

Now, I understand that the whole municipal water network was hacked, and that the hacker turned on and off a pump repeatedly until it broke, leaving thousands of households without running water, I realize the inconvenience it caused, but what can you expect from the network administrator of the municipal water company? To upkeep a safe network with a minimal standard for passwords?

What then? Expect the users of the water company’s network to be brutally forced to remember an actual password, rather than the word S-E-X or D-O-G? Why stop there then? Why not force all passengers in airline traffic to be scanned to death by x-ray machines? Check all the flying babies’ diapers for explosives? Force anyone coming into the USA to explain to the border crossing guard what they will be doing for the duration of their stay, on a list, itemized, cross-referenced and in a searchable database please?

But of course they’re right, it’s the water company, the birth place of the water from your faucet, everyone’s faucet, the water you drink, cook and wash with, and bathe in. What could potential terrorists want with it?
