That lagoon really came out of nowhere.

Two years ago, auto dealer Andy House (not to be confused with Gregory House, M.D.) ran his $1.2 million Bugatti Veyron EB into a Galveston, TX lagoon, causing irreparable salt water damage to the engine.  The cause?  A seagull.  According to House, he veered off Interstate 45 when he was suddenly confronted with the incoming water fowl, ultimately resulting in the destruction of his vehicle and a $2.2 million insurance claim.

Unfortunately, an enamored passerby caught the incident on film and posted it on YouTube; with the addition of a confidential informant, who claims House asked him to steal the car and burn it, Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Co. has now accused House of intentionally wrecking the vehicle to collect the $2.2 million policy.  The smoking gun here is a total lack of seagulls in House’s general vicinity.  It appears House simply veered into the lagoon, and left the engine running for fifteen minutes after the accident, causing more harm than necessary to the engine.

Why did House leave the engine running so long?  Mosquitos, evidently sucking the will to turn his key right out of him.  Or so he claims.  The YouTube video has since been taken down due to a copyright claim, but the second source article displays key frames from the video: Bugatti, Bugatti steering off course inexplicably, Bugatti making a splash, and finally, Bugatti pretending to be a submarine.  [Houston Chronicle; Carzi.com]
