In southern Nigeria kidnapping is so common it could be called an everyday occurrence. So when a women went missing, her husband quickly paid the 200,000 naira ($1200) ransom to get her back.
But when police tracked the bank account where the money was sent, they found it belonged to a friend of the woman’s – a motorcycle taxi driver.
Further investigation uncovered the bitter truth. The woman was in cahoots with the taxi man, faking the abduction so she could get the money from her hubby.
Why she didn’t ask for it, who knows. Perhaps she’s got a secret love life with the taxi man. And now they can enjoy matching criminal records after their attempt at deceit.
