As clever as it is twisted, this little stunt backfired on said immigration officer, as he ended up getting fired, deservedly so, for his transgression.
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
A British immigration officer working for the UK Border Agency was looking for a way of getting rid of his wife without the hassle of a messy divorce. So he did the most logical, sneaky thing possible…he added her name to a list of terrorism suspects, while she was off visiting family in Pakistan. Once she was added to a watch list of people banned from flying into Britain, the officer’s wife was stranded in her native Pakistan for three years.
That is, until the immigration officer was promoted and his dirty little secret was discovered, thanks to a vetting inquiry which showed his wife’s name on the “No Fly List.” He was promptly fired for gross misconduct after confessing to the misdeed.
So now he has no job, and a soon-to-be ex-wife who will take him to the cleaners in what is sure to be one of the most one-sided divorces in history.
Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men…and despicable immigration officers.
