A New Zealand mother is in a spot of trouble after leaving her newborn baby in the car strapped in its car seat while she went on a shopping jaunt. Don’t judge her too harshly though, she did leave a note with the baby that read “My mum’s in doing the shopping, call her if I need anything,” along with the mother’s phone number.
See, it’s cute because it’s like the baby is doing the talking on behalf of his negligent mother.
A passing couple noticed the abandoned baby and the note, and were soon joined by another couple, all of them in disbelief over their discovery. One of them eventually dialed the woman’s phone number and suggested she come out to her car and tend to her child.
From the New Zealand Herald…
A man said he spotted the baby after he and his family parked in the neighbouring space.
It was a shock to see the hand-written note resting on top of the baby’s blanket, he said.
“It was written from the baby’s perspective, and it said, ‘My mum’s in doing the shopping, call her if I need anything’, and it had the cellphone number.
“We waited there for a little bit, wondering if the mum was just going to be two seconds and come back. And my wife said, ‘I’m not going in without someone being here with the baby’.”
Eventually another two passers-by waited by the car, with one of them phoning the mother and telling her to come outside.
