Eighteen-year old Belgian, Kimberley Vlaminck, is suing a tattooist after she fell asleep during a tattoo and woke up with 56 stars on her face.
Vlaminck claims that she only asked for three stars, however, Rouslan Toumaniantz believed that she wanted to look like the sky at night.
Said Vlaminck:
I cannot go out on to the street, I am so embarrassed. I just look horrible, a bloody freak.
I think he didn’t understand what I wanted. He spoke only fractured English and French, but I explicitly said in my native tongue, French, that I wanted three little stars only near my left eye.
Vlaminck is now seeking the equivalent of about $15,000 in damages, the amount that it will cost to surgically remove the tattoos.
Toumaniantz, the 37-year-old tattooist at The Tattoo Box, offers a different version of events:
She was awake and looked into the mirror several times as the procedure was taking place. The trouble all started when she went home and her father and boyfriend threw a fit.
They are saying things now like I doped her or hypnotised her. What rubbish. She asked for 56 stars and that’s what she got.
Toumaniantz is refusing to budge on the issue, and while he is prepared to offer Vlaminck a discount on the tattoos, he resolutely refuses to pay for her surgery.
I won’t pay for the treatment. The only concession I would do is give a discount. If they are so dissatisfied they can only pay me 50 Euros because that is the cost of four stars.

I think the girl is a liar. I find it hard to believe that a tattooist would do something like that against a person’s will. How can someone even fall asleep and not feel the tattoo being performed? That just doesn’t make any sense to me.
I asked myself the same question, a needle digging in and out of the skin would be pretty hard to sleep through.

it’s actually illegal to keep tatooing someone who has fallen asleep – they could have passed out from pain, looking at the blood, lack of blood, being intoxicated (it is also illegal to tat someone who is intoxicated…espeically since drinking thins the blood)
I’m not saying this girl isn’t a lying SOB, but if she DID fall asleep, she certainly can sue – even if this is EXACTLY what she asked for before she fell asleep

Yes, but the pranks I’m familiar with are the goofy photos taken with the artists all making faces with “bunny ears” with the passed-out person. They don’t continue tattooing!

i’ve fallen asleep many times whilst getting tattoos. with neither drugs nor alcohol to assist. but never when work was being done on my face!

My 13 year old daugther said “liar, liar, liar, you cannot nap during a tattoo. Because od the needle constantly poking into your flesh. She just did not want to get into trouble with her father”. And that is from a 13 year old!!! I agree with my daugther, that artist should not have to pay for his customers stupidity!!!

The only way you she could have fallen asleep would have maybe been booze,but the problem with that, is that if you are drunk most tattoo artists will not tattoo you, because it thins your blood, and you will bleed a lot more.
I know when I got my tattoo, that they made me sign a consent form stating that i had not had anything to drink and that I was of age and such.

I’m loving the pictures of the hippo, I MEAN artist 🙂 Something is wrong here cause, seriously, falling asleep naturally during such a long tattoo. Though I really love the stars, they’re beautiful. Go out into society and be admired!

well the thing is that i have had multiple tattoos and have fallen asleep during nearly every one of them to the exception of the ones done on cartilage, face tattoos are not that hard to fall asleep to, and with the needle puncturing the flesh it only goes down 1 cm. and frankly that’s not that painful if anything its more of a tickling feeling with or without drugs or alcohol but i have yet to wake with something that i did not request

I absolutely LOVE her tattoos! She should really just ignore her parents.

unless i am mistaken and this is someone else with the same tats, I seen this girl, a few years ago, she was a club kid who did this herself. there was a cnn news special about it and how she was embarrassed now she was older and wants then removed.

We have a number of tattoo shop around here which I’ve visited to check out the artists and their work. Every single one of them is professional, efficient and would absolutely not put 56 stars on the face of a sleeping customer for ANY reason. I think this girl asked for the stars, got them and then decided she looked like a freak and wants them taken off.

the 56 stars luk Sick!! they luk cool, i mean if u knw how to accentuate and work wit them u can look uniquely beautiful. just experiment with eye liner, mascara, hair dressing, and earings and you can make a unique image…=)
there was another article i read about this saying she dropped the lawsuit because she was lying about not knowing what was going on. she said she was afraid of what her father was going to say so she lied to him and made up that story. she’s an asshole
Yeah, because you could definitely sleep while someone is STABBING YOUR FACE WITH NEEDLES. She’s a lying idiot.
Here is where that girl is at fault because she fell asleep. If she stayed awake she would have been able to watch what he was doing and stopped him before he proceeded the 4th tattoo. If I was on the jury I am afraid I be in favor of the tattoo artist. How can you fall asleep to a needle jabbing at your face? Something wrong with this story I am afraid.
