Thief swallows diamond, gets an early taste of prison life during colonoscopy

Diamonds? In my colon? It's more likely than you think.

A 36-year-old-man thought he might get away clean if he swallowed a stolen diamond just before being caught by police.  His clever ruse was foiled, however, and police waited several days for the situation to pass naturally.

Unfortunately, the would-be diamond thief’s digestive tract could not be motivated to pass the stone, so police obtained a warrant to obtain the stone – via colonoscopy, using a basket catheter inserted into the man’s rectum.
