You're going to accept my philanthropy, and you're gonna like it.

Phil Grande, a businessman in Sarasota, Florida was just trying to do the right thing, offering to build a half-million dollar shelter for the homeless and give it to the city for just one dollar.  The city – namely, Vice Mayor Terry Turner – declined the offer.

In retaliation, Grande is on a crusade.  Armed with a bus and free meals, Grande has been transporting throngs of homeless men and women from Five Points Park in downtown to Turner’s home in affluent Cherokee Park on a weekly basis.  And he’ll continue to do so until the City does something about the homeless in Five Points Park, who, according to Grande, are “urinating, masturbating, stealing from you and drunk.”  In Grande’s eyes, the City won’t understand this until the problem is in their own backyard.

Turner, meanwhile, insists that the homeless problem is a small inconvenience, and Grande is exploiting the men and women for his own ends. [Source]

“exploiting the homeless for his own ends” ?????  Really??!?!?  That is such a gop’er answer.  What could this man POSSIBLY be gaining other than a cleaner town park?  He is trying to build a shelter with his own money and give it to the city.  Ignoring the homeless will not make them go away.  And the economy is only going to get worse, as long as the repugs hold majority in the house this country is doomed.
