Middle school gives fuzzy boots the boot

As of this morning, Philadelphia’s Pottstown Middle School forbids wearing fuzzy boots including the popular UGG branded ones, because students were hiding their cell phones in them and some of them were disrupting the classes with ringtones, alerts and other cell phone related distractions.

Although I understand why the school officials decided to go for the low-tech ban rather than a higher tech cell phone jammer, it’s hard not to admit that with about a dozen other places to hide their cell phones, students that choose not to wear spandex speed-skating suits should still be able to stow the phones away and use them at their will.

Having said that, I’d have banned the fuzzy boots simply for looking ridiculous.
