First zombie bees in San Fransisco and now zombie caterpillars.

Yes, scientists have discovered a virus that once it infects caterpillars, it turns them into a zombie like state. But that’s not all, once infected the little critters commit suicide.

Basically in a hypnotic state, the caterpillars climb to the top of a tree and jump off, to their untimely deaths below.

Researchers have narrowed it down to one gene in the virus that affects their little brains making them suicidal.

Once dead the bodies actually liquify and the virus affects everything around it – from the ground to birds and bugs. Yuk. Be careful when you walk under trees. You never know when you might be stepping in zombie guts.  Picture  Source.
