Ahhhhh, the Christmas holiday season. Filled with Santas, elves, reindeer and monkeys? A very unusual sight at Christmas, even more so in Toronto, Canada.
But that’s what shoppers at Ikea were greeted with – a monkey wearing a fancy winter jacket – running around the parking lot and in the store. Cute as it looked no one could really believe what they were seeing.
Pictures of the animal resulted in the usual digital age treatment as memes using a picture of the monkey in a coat looking out the front door went viral and a fake Twitter account was created.
Reports say the animal was taken into Animal Control and the owners fined for owning a prohibited animal. At least they had the foresight to buy him a shearling jacket to keep him warm. Half of North America can’t afford winter coats that nice. [ Source. ]
