Jemma Benjamin, pictured here, was just 18 when she got her first kiss from fellow student Daniel Ross. Sadly, moments later she started frothing at the mouth, her eyelids drooped and she expired. I’m not sure this was the desired effect Mr.Ross was expecting but I can imagine it made him slightly nervous about the next girl he would kiss.
For the record, it’s not mentioned anywhere whether this was her first absolute kiss, or just the first time Daniel Ross kissed her. At any rate, according to the investigation, the fact that she was kissed, had likely nothing to do with her death.
According to The Mail Online, Jemma suffered from a rare condition called Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) which kills about 500 people in Britain every year. Wait what?
You might remember a flu called H1N1, and how it was all blown out of proportion by the media, the World Health Organization, all the individual countries health departments, and their moms. Well, statistically, H1N1 has killed 50 or so people last year in the UK. Is it me or calling a condition “rare” when 500 people die from it, every year, in a given country, a bit of a stretch?
Also as someone commented in the linked article, if a specific model of aircraft went down in flames, for no apparent reason, and killed 500 people once a year, it might be safe to bet that type of plane would be grounded by all the airlines in the world (except of course for Cubana Airlines).
Having said that, my most sincere condolences go out to this young girl’s family as well as her friends and loved ones.
