I’d like to dedicate this article to Mac fanboys everywhere. What defines a fanboy is his or her enduring single mindedness, about whatever article, team or artist they’re fans of. You’ll never convince an Xbox fanboy that the PS3 or Wii is better, as you’ll never convince a Toronto Maple Leafs fan that the Montreal Canadians, as they should, are a better hockey team. Sometimes this fanboyness is well founded, like in the case of the Habs, however in some occasions, the fanboys have precious little to hold on to.
Case and point Mac computers. I’m not a fanboy of Apple products and I’ll try to remain as neutral as possible, I’ve worked with Macs and PCs, even Amigas back in the day. But today’s Mac fanboys only really have the “our Macs get no malware” argument going for them. Windows 7 is rock solid and frankly, I have to reboot my iPad at least as often as I reboot my Windows 7 PC. So now that Macbook batteries can get a malware that disables the computer, rendering it about as useful as a flat, 5 pound stone, all that Mac fanboys have to hold on to, is the memory of back when their computers worked. Not that they could do anything useful with them.
