Report issues to make We Interrupt a safer, happier place

Regular users of We Interrupt will be aware that this site runs ads – quite a lot of them in fact. While we would love to keep this site ad free, simple economics makes that impossible. It costs money to rent servers, pay our excellent team and purchase the coffee needed to fuel all of us through the late nights and early mornings that we sacrifice to keep the site running. Advertising is a necessary evil that helps us provide a better product – and when the ads do actually point to cool products it is a win for you as well as us.

The Rules

We do not want advertising to diminish your browsing experience or to expose you to risk. We do not allow pop-up, pop-under, interstitial or ads that play audio – and we certainly do not allow ads that are designed to falsely trigger your anti-virus software to prompt you to go off and by some shitty fake anti-virus software that is going to turn your computer into a mindless zombie… and it goes without saying that we really hate advertisements that contain malicious Java script or links to dangerous sites. Advertisements that do any of these things break our rules and we do not want them on We Interrupt.

What We are Doing

We Interrupt and our advertising providers actively screen our site for advertisements that are designed to conceal malicious code. We also make use of a an independent service that scans the advertisements that appear on our site. This works in most cases, but threats evolve and we need to be adaptive in how we act on them.

What You can do to Help

If you see anything that you feel breaks the rules feel free to hit the “Report an Issue” link anywhere that it appears on the screen (it is right up the top, at the bottom of each story, at the bottom of the page and in the sidebar). We take every report seriously and we will thoroughly investigate any complaint.

Help us to ensure that our advertisements enhance and not diminish your We Interrupt experience.
