Police brutality is one of those things that is probably happening less but, in a time of cell phone and dashboard video cameras, is being reported more. We are certainly seeing more of it on the computer screen, some of which would be more than disgusting enough to make Vic Mackey blush.
These days, actual police beatings are less frequent, but what is perhaps more worrying is law enforcement’s increasing willingness to use the taser. It has risen from being a weapon with the potential to provide a less lethal response in high-risk situations to a tool of first resort that is employed at the slightest provocation. Citizen rights seem to have been eroded to the point that people are little more than recalcitrant cattle, with a zap of the cattleman’s prod awaiting anyone that dares to question the authority of our men and women in blue.
The cases in the videos that follow serve as a clear demonstration of the dangers of allowing the wrong people to be placed in positions of authority, but are far from worst on record, those tend to happen when cameras are not around or be so offensive that we choose not to show them here.
Please note that the videos in this article are of a graphic nature and may offend some people, viewer discretion is advised. This article is in a multi-page format for the convenience of people with slower connections, if you would like to see a single-page version, go here.
Seattle Police Beat 15-year-old Girl For Kicking Off a Shoe
Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Schene attacked a “real lippy” teenage girl for calling he and his partner “fat pigs”. Monica Calhoun and a friend were arrested after they borrowed her friend’s mother’s car without permission.
What happened next defies belief. Shown in the video, Schene slams Calhoun face-first into the cell wall, throws her to the ground and strikes her. Considering the fact that Calhoun is only 15-years-old and considerably smaller than her adult assailant, it seems a little excessive.
Outcome: The officer in question has been charged with assault and faces up to a year in prison if convicted.
