Operation Rocky might be the smartest police operation in the history of modern police. At least it was cost effective and proved that some criminals are indeed dumb.
Nineteen wanted criminals were arrested after police tricked them into going to a designated place for a free case of beer in Derbyshire, England. Letters were sent out to dozens of criminals wanted for crimes that ranged from burglary and robbery to serious sexual assault. The letters claimed to be from a marketing company asking the criminals to call and set up a time to pick-up a free case of beer. In other news, a significant proportion of criminals wanted in the United Kingdom are really, really stupid.
